Manchester Bathroom Redesign
Bathroom with Walk-In Shower for Elderly Customer Completed in Manchester
At Walker Bathrooms, we recently completed a thoughtful and practical bathroom adaptation for an elderly customer who needed a safer and more accessible space. The customer reached out to us for help after finding it increasingly difficult to manage in their existing bathroom. Their main request was a walk-in shower with a built-in seat, allowing them to shower comfortably and independently.

After an initial visit and free consultation, we took the time to understand exactly what was needed – not just in terms of accessibility, but also comfort, safety, and style. Our team designed a bespoke solution that transformed the space into a modern, easy-to-use bathroom tailored to their needs.
The original bathroom had a standard bath, which was no longer practical for the customer to step in and out of. We removed the bath completely and installed a walk-in shower with low-level access, making entry effortless and much safer. We also fitted a fold-down shower seat, allowing the customer to sit comfortably while showering – a simple yet life-changing feature for many older adults.
For added safety and peace of mind, we installed anti-slip flooring, grab rails, and a thermostatic shower unit to prevent sudden temperature changes. The walls were finished in waterproof wall panels, providing a clean, low-maintenance look without the need for grout. The result is a bright, fresh, and functional bathroom that’s easy to use and easy to clean.
As always, we carried out the work with minimal disruption and ensured every detail was finished to the highest standard. The customer was delighted with the end result and told us how much more confident and comfortable they now feel when using their bathroom.
At Walker Bathrooms, we understand that adapting a bathroom for mobility needs is about more than just fixtures – it’s about restoring independence and dignity.
